Channel Islands

There are 8 islands that make up the channel Islands but only 5 of them are part of the channel Islands national park. Catalina Island is the most well known because there’s civilization, but the biggest is Santa Cruz Island off Ventura. We took a fun 1 hour roller coaster like boat ride to the uninhabited island.

The island was bigger than I thought, so we were only able to explore the eastern side. Checked out scorpion rock, cavern point, and potato harbor, scenic stops along the island cliff.

We then hiked inside the canyon along scorpion canyon and smugglers road. Wasn’t able to make it to smugglers cave, next time! We relaxed and slept on the beach while we waited for our ferry back. Next time bring water shoes because the beach is very rocky and snorkeling gear. And rent kayaks to check out scorpion rock and the caves. And hike more of the island.

Fun long day trip! Glad I was finally able to check this place out!

Oh I almost forgot, there are cute foxes on the island! They’re tiny, the ravens are bigger!
